How to Apply

A library card gives you access to our full collection, digital resources, and community programs. You can apply in person or online. Choose the option that works best for you.

Apply In Person

Visit us in person during operating hours to apply for your library card. Our staff will help you through the process.

What to Bring
  • Driver’s license or government-issued ID
  • Utility bill from the last 30 days showing your Illinois address
Valid for 3 years. Renewal is required in person.

Apply Online

Apply for a library card from home by submitting your application online. Your application will be reviewed and you’ll receive a response via email.

How It Works
  • Submit an online application and upload a picture of your driver’s license or government-issued ID
  • Upload a picture of a utility bill from the last 30 days showing your Illinois address
  • Your application will be reviewed within 7 business days
  • You will receive an approval or denial response via email
  • If approved, your email will include your library card number. keep this for your records
Pick up your card: Once approved, you may pick up your physical library card at the library service desk at any time. If you bring your driver’s license and a utility bill from the last 30 days, your card can be converted to a 3-year card.
Please note: Submitting documents online does not guarantee approval. Your application will be reviewed by library staff, and you will be notified by email once a decision has been made.
